Shane Chism

Hello, Nice to Meet You!

As you may have already gathered, my name is Shane Chism. I'm a student, a programmer, and a designer. While I'm kept busy pursuing my Bachelor's of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, I find time to pursue my hobbies and freelance various projects for all sorts of interesting organizations.

In the past three years I spent most of my time getting involved in the UCF community with the Student Government Association. Starting as a Senator, I eventually served as a Senate Chairman, the 17 million dollar organization's Chief Financial Officer, and ultimately Chief Information Officer.

My Background

Throughout my life I've pursued a lot of different interests. Marketing, journalism, business, law, politics -- all have grabbed my attention at one point and have worked to shape who I am as an individual. I think those who restrict themselves to one field of study are being cheated out of an essential perspective. My experience in business and marketing has fundamentally changed my approach to computer programming and web applications. Just as my experience in journalism inspired my work in marketing, and my experience in law inspired my work in politics.

If I pride myself on any one feature it would have to be my logic. That, combined with my interest in technology, is without a doubt what inspired me to choose the field I have. I whole-fully believe that everything in this world can be puzzled out with the right application of logic. However, logic is useless without things to riddle out so it is no surprise that I'm a person who enjoys questions more than answers. You'll often find me thinking about why certain things are the way they are. Thankfully I was born in the life and time of Wikipedia.
